Leif Skoogfors has worked for almost 50 years as a documentary photographer, photojournalist and teacher. After 3 years in the army, he began a difficult start as a freelance photographer. His career choice was influenced by his strong attraction to international events, politics, and art.
He studied photography and design with the renowned art director Alexis Brodovitch and his Design Studio in Richard Avedon’s studio in New York as well as courses at The University of the Arts.
Northern Ireland and "the troubles" drew him into that conflict zone and his work was widely published in the US and in some 30 other countries. While there he also worked as a journalist for the Mutual Broadcasting Company, the BBC, Radio Zambia, and other media.
He has worked in numerous conflict and disaster zones for Newsweek, Time, Paris Match, and FEMA. His work is in numerous museums, collections, and publications.
